Preliminary investigations into the horrific rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have unveiled disturbing details about the accused, Sanjay Roy. According to police sources, Roy consumed alcohol shortly before committing the crime and was found to have an extensive collection of violent pornographic videos on his mobile phone.
The tragic incident occurred late at night when Roy reportedly went behind the hospital to drink alcohol. Sources disclosed that Roy had a habit of watching pornographic content while drinking, with his mobile phone almost filled with violent porn videos. This led investigators to consider whether Roy may have been mentally disturbed or had perverse tendencies.
The body of the 31-year-old trainee doctor was discovered in a seminar room of the government-run hospital on Friday morning, sparking widespread outrage across West Bengal. The autopsy report revealed that the victim suffered severe injuries, including bleeding from her private parts, as well as injuries to her belly, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips.
Further details about Roy's past have come to light, painting a troubling picture. Neighbors claimed that Roy had been married four times, with three of his wives leaving him due to his abusive behavior. His fourth wife passed away last year after battling cancer.
Despite the growing evidence against him, Roy's mother, Malati Roy, has come to his defense, alleging that her son was coerced into confessing by the police. "My son is innocent. He has confessed to the crime under the pressure of police," she asserted. In contrast, Roy's mother-in-law accused him of having a long history of violence against women, further deepening the gravity of the allegations against him.
